The areas of Bang Por and Ban Thai are located very close to each other and situated on the northern coast of Koh Samui Island. Both are quiet and relaxed with long white sand beaches and normally the water is calm and great for swimming. There is a coral reef close to the beach which may appeal to those who enjoy snorkelling and fishermen can be seen casting their nets from small boats at sunset. A few smaller beaches and bays can also be found in Ban Thai. This side of the island has great sunsets and views across to the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan and the Angthong National Marine Park.
