Villa Batujimbar

The extraordinary beachfront Villa Batujimbar sits on its own one-hectare grounds right on the beautiful Sanur Beach. Designed by the famous Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa in the authentic Bali style, the sumptuous villa is spread over a series of thatched pavilions with the Lembu Bale at the centre. This two storey brick-built pavilion has an impressive open-sided lounge on the top floor with the view to the pool on one side and jaw dropping views to the ocean on the other. The ground floor of the Lembu Bale is the art gallery housing the current owner’s outstanding and unique collection of Balinese art.

The lavish living pavilion and the dining bale along with the fully equipped kitchen are the closest to the beach. To the side is the Longhouse with two large master bedrooms featuring dressing rooms and ensuite bathrooms. The Bali pavilion comprises of two bedrooms sharing the bathroom, an elegant lounge and courtyard. The two storey Pool pavilion is the furthest from the beach and houses two ensuite bedrooms and an open-fronted living area overlooking the inviting swimming pool.The Family pavilion is near the villa entrance with two more bedrooms on the upper floor that share a bathroom. The ground floor is a fully equipped gym and the tennis court is just across the driveway. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and feature TVs, safe deposit boxes and bar fridges.

Sanur is located on Bali’s south-east coast around 16 kilometres from the airport in Denpasar. Visitors to this sleepy village can expect attractive beaches with a good choice of relaxed restaurants and bars. Although compared to the likes of more developed areas, such as Kuta, Sanur is now itself fairly well developed and the area has a number of supermarkets, souvenir shops, boutiques, spas and the newly built Grand Bali Beach Golf Club.

Several kilometres east of Sanur is Ketewel. This scenic and picturesque area is an amalgamation of a number traditional Balinese fishing villages. After the construction of the Klungkung bypass a number of years ago many areas of natural beauty became easier to access. Expect black sand beaches, and spectacular views across to the islands of Penida,  Lembongan and Ceningan as well as Nusa Dua and Sanur.
